DocLinkWatch scans your website for PDFs, extracts the links inside them, checks which ones still work and emails you a weekly report of new, fixed and unresolved issues.

Core features
Every week we scan your site, find in-scope PDFs and extract the links inside them automatically. No manual checks, no spreadsheet tracking and no guesswork about what changed.
After each scan you get an email report showing what broke, what was fixed and what still needs review. No digging through dashboards to find out what changed.
We separate clearly broken links from links that need review, such as login walls, captchas and unstable redirect chains. You spend less time triaging and more time fixing.
See which issues are new, which are still unresolved and which disappeared since the last scan. Every week you get a clear picture of what changed across your document library.
How it works
Enter your website address. We scan your site for PDFs, extract the links inside them and check which ones still work. No tags, plugins or install steps.
Our scanner visits your pages, finds linked PDFs, opens each file and extracts the links. It checks each link and marks it as broken, okay or needs review.
Every Monday you receive an email summary showing new issues, unresolved links, review items and links that were fixed since the last scan.
Designed for teams that publish PDFs and need to keep them accurate, accessible and up to date.

FAQ
PDF link monitoring is the process of automatically checking the hyperlinks embedded inside PDF documents on your website. Unlike regular link checkers that only scan web pages, PDF link monitoring opens each PDF file, extracts every URL inside it and verifies that each link still works. This catches broken links that standard tools miss entirely.
DocLinkWatch crawls your website, discovers all linked PDF files, downloads each one and extracts the hyperlinks embedded in the document. It then performs an HTTP request on each link and classifies the result as working, broken (4xx/5xx/DNS failure) or needs review (login walls, captchas, unstable redirects). You get a report with the exact source page, PDF and broken link.
Broken links return a definitive error: a 404, 500, DNS failure or connection reset. These need to be fixed. Needs-review links return an ambiguous result: they might be behind a login wall, trigger a CAPTCHA or use an unstable redirect chain. These are flagged for manual review because the link may or may not actually be broken.
Yes. DocLinkWatch works with any publicly accessible website. You provide your site URL and the scanner crawls your pages, finds linked PDFs and checks the links inside them. There are no plugins to install, no tags to add and no code changes required. It works with any CMS, static site or hosting platform.
DocLinkWatch runs an automated scan once per week, every Monday. After each scan completes, you receive an email summary showing new broken links, unresolved issues and links that were fixed since the previous scan. Pro plan users also get on-demand scans they can trigger at any time.
Yes. Regular broken link checkers scan web page HTML for broken links, but they do not open PDF files or check the links inside them. DocLinkWatch is purpose-built for PDF link checking: it downloads each PDF, extracts hyperlinks from within the document content and validates each one. If your site publishes PDFs with embedded links, a standard link checker will miss broken links that DocLinkWatch catches.
No. DocLinkWatch is a read-only monitoring tool. It crawls your site and downloads PDFs to extract and check links, but it never modifies your files, injects scripts or makes any changes to your website. The only action it takes is reading publicly accessible content.
